Virtuosi Series II “Horn for Hero”
《紐約紀事報》讚美斯特芬‧多爾是「法國號的國王」，完美的技巧、純粹的聲調以及美妙流暢的藝術呈現，都使他成為國際上的話題焦點。自十九歲開始擔任法蘭克福歌劇院的首席法國號手，而1993年至今，斯特芬‧多爾更是柏林愛樂管弦樂團的首席法國號手。
理夏德˙史特勞斯對身為法國號演奏家的父親無上崇敬，耳濡目染的累積，造就自身對法國號的創作靈性，就在十八歲那年創作第一號法國號協奏曲，慶祝父親六十歲大壽，奔放熱情的序奏彷彿應照著年輕的史特勞斯。作為一位「藝術的革新者」，《英雄生涯》這部氣勢恢弘的交響詩，則將標題音樂狂想到精湛的極致，富有戲劇張力的樂段，引發後世諸多有趣的聯想與猜測，理夏德˙史特勞斯音樂中的英雄究竟是誰？大家來音樂會找答案吧。

The New York Chronicle lauded Stefan Dohr as the “King of the French Horn”. His perfect technique, pure intonation and beautifully articulated artistry are often the centre of focus within international music circles. At age 19, he already served as the principal horn of the Frankfurt Opera, and has been the principal horn of the Berlin Philharmonic since 1993.
Richard Strauss had great reverence for his father, who was a french horn player. When he was 18 years old, Strauss wrote the “French Horn concerto No.1” for his father’s 60th birthday, fully showcasing the spirit and inspiration cultivated by years of growing up in a French horn player’s household. The lively introduction of the piece reflected the youth and passion of young Strauss. In the epic symphonic poem, Ein Heldenleben (A Hero"s Life), Strauss depicted the theme to its extreme perfection with wild interpretations and dramatic passages. For the second concert of the Richard Strauss 150th Anniversary Memorial Series, NTSO Artistic Advisor Lan Shui teams up with past and present virtuosi and a top class orchestra to sound the horn of the Hero once again.

2011年起任國立臺灣交響樂團藝術顧問的水藍，2007接任哥本哈根愛樂首席指揮，並從1997年開始就是新加坡交響樂團音樂總監，領導該團蛻變為世界級樂團，演奏足跡踏遍歐美及亞洲，並與BIS簽下獨家錄音合約。水藍為BIS錄製超過20張CD，錄音夥伴包括林昭亮及夏漢(Gil Shaham)等知名獨奏家，專輯《動態》獲2008年葛萊美獎提名，指揮哥本哈根愛樂的協奏曲專輯又獲2012年葛萊美獎提名。2011/12樂季帶領新加坡交響樂團完成拉赫瑪尼諾夫交響曲全集錄製，也帶領哥本哈根愛樂完成貝多芬全集錄製，《美國唱片指南》稱他是「帶領樂團晉升為世界級的指揮大師」。水藍也獲得波士頓大學的傑出校友獎及新加坡的總統文化獎，音樂成就廣受世界肯定。
法國號：斯特芬•多爾
French Horn: Stefan Dohr
在德國埃森與科隆求學的斯特芬•多爾，被《紐約紀事報》讚美是「法國號的國王」，十九歲開始擔任法蘭克福歌劇院的首席法國號手，自此踏上專業演奏之路。他曾在拜羅伊特音樂節管弦樂團、尼斯愛樂與柏林德意志交響樂團擔任首席法國號手。1993年至今，多爾擔任柏林愛樂的首席法國號手。
除了古典與浪漫時期的獨奏曲目，多爾也對當代作曲家的作品深感興趣，例如李蓋悌（György Ligeti）、克努森（Oliver Knussen）與科希納 （Volker Kirchner）等等。作曲家們曾為他寫過多首樂曲，例如2008年首演威利（Herbert Willi）的《蒙塔豐》協奏曲、2010年首演沃曼（Johannes Wallmann）的法國號協奏曲於、2011年2月首演日本作曲家細川俊夫（Toshio Hosokawa）為他寫了法國號與管弦樂的樂曲《花開時刻》、德國作曲家希姆（Wolfgang Rihm）獻給他的協奏曲，也將在2014年琉森音樂節進行世界首演。
