本研討會欲從歷史與當代兩個層面，以臺灣－日本、臺灣－中國、香港－英國、香港－中國、愛爾蘭－英國為例，探討台灣、香港和愛爾蘭三個相對獨立於大陸之外的島嶼在不同時期與其周邊帝國間的關係。
